"I had the good fortune to spend a marvelous week in Menorca at the end of September 2024 on Cristina and Isabel's Spanish language immersion course.

If you are at an advanced intermediate level, I can't think of a better, more enjoyable way to turbocharge your Spanish. You'll be based near the little city of Ciutadella -- truly a gem. Imagine walls of butter-cream colored stone bathed in golden light as the sun sets, sipping the local excellent gin and tonic on a plaza or by the side of the incredibly picturesque harbor, all while chatting in Spanish about your day's activities.

Cristina and Isabel keep you going all day (but with downtime), starting with breakfast made for you in your villa by the charming and hilarious Argentinian rugby player, Lau. You will have gentle hikes to beautiful lighthouses and beaches, do workshops on local crafts, and walking tours of historic sites.

All of this in Spanish. Because the group will be small, you will have personalized attention to your specific language needs, all in a very comfortable, natural setting.

I'd add too, that a benefit of this course that I had not anticipated is that you will likely be with a mix of nationalities. Not only is this interesting culturally, but likely means that even during down times, when you are not with Cristina or Isabel, you will be speaking Spanish. It truly is immersion.

Both Isabel and Cristina are total professionals. They are excellent planners and very organized, while at the same time flexible enough to accommodate the needs and wishes of the group and individual participants.

Isabel lives in Germany and has been teaching Spanish for over 20 years (more about Isabel in www.isabelgrasa.com). She offered the first language experience back in 2022 and has worked so brilliantly that she's even been recently featured in Menorca's local press and recognised for working with local businesses to promote the island in a sustainable way. It started with German speakers only, but now we have opened it to English and other speakers too where Spanish is the common language for the first time in September 2024.

And what a result! A multicultural, super fun and enriching experience that left a big impression on all of us.

VILLA NOKA

YOUR LUXURIOUS VILLA IN MENORCA

Villa Noka is a villa with 5 double bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms in all rooms. There is a beautiful pool and garden. The classes will mainly take place here. In the fully equipped kitchen we will eat together and hold one of the two cooking workshops. The villa is located in Cala Blanes, 3 km from Ciutadella.

We understand how frustrating it is to spend years learning another language only to realise that once in the country, you don't have the fluency, confidence and speed of thought required to have natural, spontaneous and relaxed conversations with the locals.

I learned English and Isabel German in a classroom in a very traditional way where we knew all of the grammar inside out, but not much focus was placed on developing our speaking… So, when I went to the USA (and Isabel to Germany) we were completely shocked and demoralised because our language skills were totally unbalanced. Whilst we could read and write without a problem, we really struggled with the speed, expressions and day to day language that the locals were using.

We learned the hard way how necessary it is to have contact with the language in the real world and have opportunities to practise.

Our programme gives you the tools, the space and the opportunities to advance your Spanish naturally and confidently in a friendly and supportive environment whilst experiencing the island like a local.
